Historical Sketch

  • First edition of the Bibliography (a summary review of the Khazar University faculty and staff's publications in various university manifestations: books, journal articles, and conference papers) dedicated to Khazar University's 15th Anniversary, was published (2006).
  • Library Information Center has been participating in the first eIFL- cooperation project (2006).
  • Khazar University Library Information Center (LIC) took part in a joint project on  Creation of a Textual Database for the Development and Codification of the Azerbaijani Language together with “Sonmaz Mashal” Cultural Relations Public Union and UNESCO's financial support.
  • Khazar University Library Information Center is engaged in research related to analysis the journal impact factors, indexed by Thomson Scientific.
  • Khazar University institutional repository (KUIR) is the first electronic archive in Azerbaijan  was implemented in October 2008. More about Khazar University Institutional Repository you can find at http://dspace.khazar.org
  • To help promote the first Open Access Day Khazar University Library Information  Center  together with the Caucasus Research Resource Centers (CRRC) library staff translated “A very brief introduction to Open Access” from English into Azeri.
  • Academic year of 2009 is the most significant year in the history of the Khazar University Llibrary since it is the year when the Library moved into its new building Reading Halls. Students and staff can now enjoy more facilities and books with the opening of new extension to the Khazar University Library and Information Center (LIC) on October 27 th, 2009.
  • eGranary Digital Library Library based at the University of Iowa (USA) the WiderNet innovation project has implemented at the Khazar University Library.
  • The Ranking Web of World Repositories (January 2011) announced the latest institutional repository worldwide rankings. KUIR moved up to 892 on the list of more than 1,100 repositories evaluated. In general KUIR does very well in comparison with many, even in more developed countries.
  • Khazar University LIC has been selected as The International Society for Science & Religion (ISSR) Library awardee. Our application was reviewed under a competitive judging process and our institution will join a select group of only 150 institutions worldwide to receive a full set of the Library.
  • Khazar University library was selected to receive a donation of 100 books about Japan. The books, which are printed in English, are presented to the library through the “100 Books for Understanding Contemporary Japan” program.
  • Director of the Khazar University LIC, Tatyana Zayseva has been nominated to be the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Coordinator for Azerbaijan in July, 2011.
  • According to the  QS World University Rankings® 2011/2012 Khazar University included in the final table for the first time.  This has resulted from the works done by LIC staff and university faculty.
